Ok, here is the scenerio: Lets say after high school in 1978, 30 years ago I started working at McDonalds and contributed $20 per week in the employee stock purchase program. How much is my stock worth today? And approximately how much longer do I have to go before I become a millionaire?
Back in 1978 McDonald’s was trading for less than $1.25 on a split adjusted basis. By 1985 on a split adjusted basis is was trading for around $3.50. And now it’s around $56. If you had your dividends reinvested and you kept up with the $20 a week that whole time you’d probably be close to that amount already if not already there.

6I don’t know the rate of return on McDonald’s stock. I know that $100/month at the historical average of the stock market as a whole becomes $1 million in about 40 years.
