Unless they are complete and utter morons, they won’t take too big a hit. You can get insurance policies where the deductible (your own payout) is only a fraction and the insurance company has to foot the majority of the bill.

Companies do this because most of the time it’s free money, as the company pays $1K or so and never needs to pay a winner.

this charity tournament set up a shot from about 160 yards and if you holed it, you won 1 million dollars. Technically not a hole in one but he still won big money.
